The Purpose

My small token of appreciation to my team at Stanford Medical Lung Transplant center.

Hey there! I'm Lori Rendón, and I got a lung transplant on July 10, 2024, at Stanford Medical Center in Palo Alto, California. Before getting checked out by the lung transplant team at Stanford, I was going through a tough assessment with my pulmonologist at Kaiser. During that time, I got invited to a Facebook group for folks waiting for or who have already received new lungs, as well as for caregivers. This group really helped me breathe easier (with my oxygen, of course). The admin is super supportive, and there are 4.2K members! So impressive!

As I get closer to my 2nd Lungaversary, I really feel the need to set up a space where women can ask questions, support each other, or just hang out and learn. Personally, I hit a few bumps along the way, especially with issues specific to women, and I was too shy or embarrassed to ask questions openly in the group.

Guidelines for Our Space

I aim to maintain a friendly environment for everyone here, so let's steer clear of bullying and keep the language clean—no inappropriate words, please!
